THE CLIENT

Regarded as the largest casino in the United States, WinStar World Casino and Resort sits right along the state line between Oklahoma and Texas. In it contains a multitude of entertainment areas, from spa towers to a fitness center to a golf club. One of those areas is a convention center--and when it came time to revamp its audio-visual technology, Lantek AVC was the company to do it.

The WinStar Convention Center is 65,000 square feet in total, including a Grand Ballroom, Junior Ballroom, and three executive board-rooms. Lantek AVC was responsible for installing the audio-visual systems in all of them --and we did it using technologies that, though unconventional at the time, later became the standard in the audio/video industry.

THE PROJECT

Just predating the popularization of AV-over-IP, Manhattan Construction chose Lantek AVC to install the audio-visual systems within the WinStar Convention Center. In terms of audio technology, the project involved full sound reinforcement, incorporating technologies for production audio as well as distributed audio. In terms of video technology, the project involved AV-over-IP video distribution, part of which used direct view LED displays--another uncommon technology at the time.
